I’ve been in the jewelry industry since 1976 and became a graduate gemologist in 1981. I owned my own store where we specialized in diamonds, gemstones, and fashion jewelry created by some of the world’s finest designers. A great deal of my appraisal knowledge came from my experience with the diamond companies and talented designers I’ve has the pleasure of working with. I’ve been doing jewelry appraisal, diamond appraisals, and gemstone appraisals for a bit over 33 years. The training didn’t stop when I graduated from GIA…I’ve been taking continuing education courses, working with both diamond and colored stone dealers, and learning from some of the best jewelry designers in the world. I am a member of the National Association of Jewelry Appraisers (NAJA), a professional organization committed to fostering excellence and ethics in the industry.
If you don’t know where to go to get jewelry appraised…read your local jewelry appraiser reviews. If you only choose one item, a diamond ring appraisal would probably be your best choice. Also, if your purpose is to sell diamond jewelry, a current jewelry appraisal will help you decide a better selling price.
